It’s sorority rush time in Alabama and it’s taken over TikTok. For some reason, we’re all seeing this content whether or not you have any affiliation with sororities or Alabama. It’s become a running joke that people in their 30s who live nowhere near Alabama are getting this content all over their For You Page.
We gathered up a list of the hashtags they’re using for this content if you want to find more Bama Rush on TikTok:
Basically, it all started with TikToks from girls showing off their outfits for Alabama’s sorority rush week.
They pick out each piece of clothing or accessory and say where it’s from. There are tons of these videos circulating on TikTok right now.
Then, there are more general rush TikToks. Phi Mu Alabama claims to have “officially taken over TikTok.” There’s a bunch of videos of them showing their mansion and getting ready for rush events.
It makes sense these girls are making TikToks to showcase their lives at college. After all, TikTok is a huge platform for teens and college-aged kids. But the best part about TikTok is that at any given time you can get something totally (seemingly) off base for you, and be mesmerized by it. Enter: 30-somethings finding and becoming obsessed with Bama Rush TikTok.
Millennial creators started creating TikToks to point out that their whole FYP was Alabama Rush content. @auntiekrisitstoddkraines was oddly invested. Apparently this is the nations largest sorority rush. We thought all these things were cheugy, but I guess they’re back in style? Longchamp bags?? Kendra Scott?? Who knew.
These creators are all in our same age-bracket (30-somethings) and made hilarious videos about how obsessed they are with this sorority rush TikTok content:
An Alabama alum (@roughwaters) explains how the whole sorority thing works and shows off her outfits from 2017 pre-TikTok.
This is everything you need to know about the current craze of Alabama Sorority Rush TikTok. Tune into next week’s podcast episode where we’ll explain it even more in depth. Rolltide!
