The top TikTok trends and songs of the year so far include drivers license, group chats, buss it, tortillas, stitch questions, comparing your pics to your mom’s facebook pics, text to speech, singing facebook drama, and more.
I know, I know. It’s confusing and overwhleming. But we’re here to help.
Here’s a breakdown and round-up of the biggest trends and songs on TikTok for January 2021.
January 2021 TikTok songs ranged from high school love to Facebook drama parody songs. Let’s dive in.
An emotional song by a teenage girl who finally got her drivers license but didn’t end up with the guy who taught her how to drive.
There’s some real-life drama to this song. Apparently Olivia is a huge Swiftie (who isn’t?), so similarly her songs are inspired by her own relationships. Olivia was in some sort of High School Musical thing on Disney Channel and was dating her co-star, but then he left her for the said “blonde girl” in this song.
Some of our favorite millennials on TikTok explain it well:
Lubalin took this absurd Facebook interaction and turned it into one of the hottest songs on TikTok.
Other creators have been using the audio in the background while they write out similarly hypocritical scenarios.
This is such a cool only-on-TikTok moment. @katoproducer first created this beat, then asked the TikTok community to come up with lyrics. @chunkymonkeeyyy delivered this incredible song and it blew up.
Now some of the biggest TikTok creators are using this song to do the #ImSoPretty challenge where they transition from casual to dressy looks.
This song went viral on TikTok using a similar outfit transition where creators drop to the floor and dance in their hot new looks.
In addition to trending TikTok songs for January 2021, we also rounded up a list of general January TikTok trends. Here’s a taste of what we’ve been seeing all over our For You Pages so far in 2021.
TikTokers ask viewers to engage with their video via the Stitch Effect and “tell them” something without saying it outright.
This group chat trend on TikTok uses text to speech to re-create group chat scenarios with emojis.
The tortilla challenge asks creators to slice tortillas into four quarters and add four different ingredients to each side, then fold them on top of one another to create the perfect sandwich.
This trend has creators putting together pics of themselves where they look great and normal juxtaposed with pics form their mom’s Facebook. The results are hilarious.
TikTok recently released this feature where you can easily put text on a video then tap to turn it into speech. The result is a robotic voice that people use to add a new element to their content.
Disclaimer: TikTok chronology can be chaotic to say the least, so take note that some of these trends may have started back in December 2020 and didn’t surface on my FYP until January 2021. Close enough.
