New TikTok Feature: Time Bar

Melissa saw a time bar on some of her videos recently. You can now drag and move forward or back on TikToks. Presumably, this is still being tested for now and not rolled out to everyone. 

Song Trends: Adult Swim

Adult Swim (@adultswim) is trending on TikTok now. Creators make their own “interstitials,” a long-time trope of the Adult Swim brand. We feature a video from @crutches_and_spice explaining why the format works. The song used with the trend is VANO 3000.

TikTok Glow Filter

Dena talks about the Glow Filter. Lizzo (@lizzo) rated all her friends using the filter in one video. So Dena and Melissa rate themselves live on the air. We feature a video from @variableminerva about how the filter didn’t work for her. Like One Direction, Melissa thinks Dena doesn’t need makeup (or the Glow filter) to cover up her beautiful face. 

Food Trends: Smazak, Watermelon Rinds

We drool over @katherinewants video about Smazak (essentially fried cheese). Watermelon rinds become a delicious savory dish in @rootedinspice’s TikTok. We feature a video from @farmlandguy about auctioneers school. 

Creator Spotlight: Nahscha

We’re obsessed with Nahscha (@nahscha) on TikTok. She posts videos of her impromptu singing with friends at dinner and in the subway. We hope to find her on the subway platform and become good friends.
