Get recaps and extras from episode eight of the 2 Old 4 TikTok podcast.
Note: We spend the first part of this episode discussing NYU quarantine TikTok—we dedicated an entire blog post to it that you can read here.
What is Prison TikTok?
Prison TikTok opens up the world of prison life to TikTok viewers. It’s a side where people in prisons film themselves and their surroundings.
They’ve gotten into typical TikTok trends like dances and hashtags. Many exposed the threat of COVID in their prison and how they feared for their health, along with pointing out hypocrisies of certain people getting released but not others.
One creator wrote TikTok fans’ handles on their wall to engage with their audience. Another got in on the #mugshot challenge by showing their own actual mugshot.
As we mentioned on the podcast, finding a prison TikTok is like finding rare gem. Obviously, they need to keep their phone usage on the down low. Most users don’t post often or for very long.
To help them stay safe, we won’t be posting any videos here. But listen to the pod for more info on the types of content they create on TikTok.
What is the childhood Halloween costumes trend on TikTok?
The Halloween costumes trend on TikTok asks creators to share their most cringeworthy or embarrassing costumes from childhood.
They all start out innocently, which the creator asking a parent if they can be something special for Halloween. They use text to introduce the story.
Each video uses the same audio, Coldplay’s Paradise mixed with a Drake song (sorry I have no idea which one).
