Will TikTok get banned in the United States?

There’s been a ton of coverage about the potential TikTok ban in the U.S. after Trump made a remark about having the power to ban it to a reporter.

Microsoft is allegedly in talks to buy it, which some presume will quell the idea that China is using it to spy on US citizens.

Here is TikTok’s response to the ban threat by General Manager, Vanessa Pappas:

And here’s a TikTok creator and #loyer (lawyer) explaining if banning TikTok is even legal or possible:

We’re optimistic here at 2Old4TikTok that the app isn’t going anywhere. And if all this publicity has got you curious…check out our podcast for a primer on what TikTok is for anyone who thinks they’re too old for TikTok.

Why does Trump hate TikTok?

Here are a few petty reasons why Trump might want to ban TikTok.

1. Tara Warolin does a spot on impression of Trump as a mean girl adding TikTok to his burn book:

@tarawarolin

Reposting because Trump saw my video and is pushing to ban TikTok. Make this viral before TikTok goes away! #tiktokban #bittersweet #repost #fyp

2. Sarah Cooper lip syncs everything Trump says:

3. Emily Christman calls out Trump for his negligence in sending kids back to school during a pandemic:

4. @samthesocialist used TikTok to show people how to buy tickets for Trump’s Tulsa Rally and then not show up:

5. A bunch of teens created a trending hashtag to #SaveBarronTrump from his oppressive father.

Intrigued? Yeah, there’s actually way more to TikTok than dancing teenagers.
