Dena and Melissa start the show discussing the new promotion feature on TikTok. It’s very similar to Instagram’s promote feature where you can “boost” a post by putting some money behind it. We hope it doesn’t mess with the algorithm too much. But the Golden Days of TikTok certainly seem to be behind us.

People clip the audio “I’m getting ripped tonight…RIP…” and create TikToks with a little dance and their own lyrics or quote a TV or film monologue. ”Slipping Through My Fingers” from Mamma Mia! is also trending. Creators make videos reflecting on a special moment from their childhood. Featuring videos from: @jilligansisland__, @esme_leonn.

Other trends

White Girl Dancing is another trend going around TikTok. People parody white girls dancing or describe it in a funny way. We mention our favorite video from @halffacemat about “white boy dancing” and talk about some videos we’ve seen capturing footage from pre-teen nightclubs. 

Messy Tok

We explain the Messy side of TikTok. It’s basically Jerry Springer on TikTok. We highlight a stitch video from @melpatton320 and @chubbycoolmama where there’s essentially a “you are the father” type of reveal.
